Development Roadmap

We have a long roadmap for Iron’s development.

Besides numerous high-performance editing features, we have many, many 3D graphical and other inspiring elements on the drawing board. And then we have secret weapons, custom features, and team and enterprise functionality yet to come.

Help us with your feedback. We’re thinking in new ways when it comes to source code editing and hope your open mind and unanswered needs will guide us down this long road.

The near term roadmap includes addressing the incomplete items mentioned above. There are also many fine-editing improvements to come, more graphical and audio elements to create and of course more keymap emulations on the way. Iron will support setup files, improved keyboard and menu customization. And we’ll be adding a Sidebar/Project Pane and session management soon.

Long term, Iron will support more computer language syntaxes, offer smart auto-completion, a more refined command palette, macro recording and playback, snippets, a powerful find-and-replace capability, multiple clipboards, 3D skins, themes, etc.

We’re a two person company in early start-up phase. As much as we’d like to, it’s impractical for us to offer delivery dates or feature sets per specific release. We’re working hard to get Iron fully functional, refined by real-use and into your hands.

Our goal, again, is a Re-Imagined Workspace that inspires and supports you to be a better programmer. Please share your ideas on our forum as to how we can best do that.

Welcome to Iron.
